Little more is known of the French painter Gaston Bouy than that he was trained in Paris at the Académie Julian and then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He then made a name for himself with paintings and pastels of elegant young women, beautifully dressed and engrossed in their daily activities or just posing. In addition to these 'beautifuls', he also painted beautiful flower still lifes.
