The portraits, figures, nudes and especially animal bronzes of the sculptor Franz Josef Lipensky are made with joy for the movement and rendering of the detail. The artist was born in Leipa in Czechoslovakia and trained as a painter and sculptor in Prague. In 1969 he fled to West Germany, where he settled in Cologne. His form language initially bordering on abstraction becomes more naturalistic there. He makes monumental sculptures and small sculptures in wood, bronze, stone and metal. His reliefs are also very popular with collectors.
