Barend Blankert belonged to the 'new' figuratives in the sixties, then to the hyper or photorealists in the 1970s. His work includes buildings, still lifes, landscapes and figures, accurately painted in the 17th century glazing technique. His drawings and watercolors are generally more disengaged.
