Edmond Wingen painted still lifes, portraits, figures and landscapes in an expressive, Fauvist style, with a bright and lively colour. He also made pottery paintings for vases, plates and tiles, and modeled small plastics. He followed his education at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Maastricht, and the academies of Den Bosch, Antwerp and Düsseldorf. Wingen lived in Maastricht and from 1936 in The Hague, and made study trips to France and Denmark. He was a member of various artists' associations, such as the 'Beroepsvereniging voor Beeldend Kunstenaars', the International Institute of Arts and Letters and was co-founder of the Hague section of the 'Nederlandse Kunstkring'.
