    Provenance: Dienst voor 's Rijks Verspreide Kunstvoorwerpen (thans de Rijksdienst voor Cultureel Erfgoed), inv.nr. SZ 1865 als ('Slingerweg, Blaricum').

    George Wildschut was educated at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam, where he, among others, was taught by Antoon Derkinderen. Wildschut painted and drew in a robust impressionistic style a wide range of subjects such as: figure representations, cityscapes, landscapes and flowers. The artist lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1924 in Purmerend, Bloemendaal and Haarlem, and settled in Laren from 1929.
