Jos Knap worked her entire life in Amsterdam with a few interruptions. She received her education from her father, the painter of cityscapes, Gerrit Knap. She herself mainly emphasized figures in her paintings, which she depicted both inside and outside in a smooth impressionist style. She also painted portraits and flower still lifes.
