After her education from 1965 to 1982, Marianne Houtkamp started making bronze sculptures in 1988 using the cire perdu technique. She made several monumental bronzes and also small sculptures, especially depicting women of nomadic peoples, such as the Masai and Samburu from Kenya, the Wodaabe from Niger, the Himba from Namibia, the Tuareg from the deserts of North Africa and the Chamula from Mexico. Over the years she became more famous and she carried out assignments for national and international institutions and organizations.
