The Hungarian painter Pal Fried was a student at the academies in Budapest and Paris and has been working as a teacher in New York since 1947. With his realistic nudes and female portraits, permeated with cool eroticism, he caused a furore, especially in England and the United States. Fried also made a name for himself as a portraitist of the American film divas of his day.
