The French sculptor Paul Silvestre received his training at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1912 he received the Grand Prix de Rome. He exhibited several times at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received many awards. Silvestre designed numerous monumental statues in bronze and marble, including funerary sculptures, but also devoted himself to making smaller objects, which usually have a 'lighter' subject.
