Originally a painter and photographer, Theo Germann started a sculpture training in 1985 at the Artibus Academy in Utrecht. He was taught there by Jan van Luyn, among others. In his bronze and stone sculptures, Germann takes the human figure - often the female nude - as the subject, which he shapes in a flowing interplay of lines and shapes. Sometimes there is a strong simplification, in which the anatomy always remains recognizable. The polished finish of the sculptures enhances the expressiveness of the round shapes that flow into one another.
