Belgian painter, still working in the Impressionist style until well into the 20th century. The main theme of his paintings was colour, light and beauty and he found this during the countless travels he made through Europe, India and North Africa. Characteristic were his bright colours, purples, roses and reds, and a pasty paint application. In 1933 he finally settled on the Indonesian island of Bali.
