This North German artist received a musical education, which she was unable to complete due to war circumstances and the care for her family. She developed her skills in this area by being apprenticed to various sculptors. The love for the horse, the main theme in Friderun Stralendorff's oeuvre, was developed as a young girl in the rural area of Mecklenburg, where she grew up.
