The Amsterdam artist Jan Everts was a versatile man. He was educated at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam (1927-'34), where he was taught by H.M. Krabbé, Jan Wolter and Jan Wiegman, among others. After this he not only practiced painting (portraits, landscapes, flower still lifes and religious scenes), but he also worked as a graphic artist and stained glass artist. Everts also made wall paintings and mosaics and sculpted crucifixes and Mary statues for funerary monuments and churches. Jan Everts was a member of the Dutch Artists Association, St. Lucas in Amsterdam and the General Catholic Artists Association.
