A native of Utrecht, in the 1850s Adrianus van Everdingen trained under J.W. Bilders in the village of Oosterbeek. He continued to spend summers there for many decades, taking to the outdoors with the lively circle of painters around Bilders. Van Everdingen mostly painted landscapes, and also worked in the area around Loosdrecht and Kortenhoef.
