Alexander Joseph Daiwaille was a student of his father Jean Augustin Daiwaille and of his brother-in-law B.C. Koekkoek. He painted romantic summer and winter landscapes which, after he had settled in Brussels in 1849, were decorated several times by the cattle painter E.J. Verboeckhoven. In 1840 Daiwaille made a trip through Germany, after which he lived with B.C. Koekkoek in Kleef from 1841 to 1847.
