biography of 'André' Victor Leonard Broedelet

André Broedelet was born in Batavia, attended the academy in The Hague (1889-1895) and then studied for a year with the portrait and genre painter Charles Verlat in Antwerp. He specialized in smoothly brushed, impressionistic flowers, portraits and genre pieces. From 1903 to 1908 he lived in Laren, where he painted many children.
