biography of Busse Weidema

The Utrecht painter Busse Weidema, who once started as a graphic artist, now only makes paintings. He briefly attended the Arnhem art academy and then completed his training at the HKU in Utrecht. In his studio in Zuilen he has created a large number of series of paintings over the years, each with a different theme. For example, there is a theme 'Nest' that refers to the warm family. The 'Recluse' series depicts the isolation from the outside world through coloured cloths hanging in front of a window. In the series 'Lift' he explores the tension between the lightness and heaviness of existence. Flying carpets, dresses and sandals that seem to rise symbolize the escape from reality.
