Nature is the main motif in Chris le Roy's work. Wandering through the wild nature, the artist finds his subjects: both landscapes, which he depicts with attention to the play of light and shadow, as well as refined bird and plant drawings. He uses a number of paintings and drawings as illustrations for his touristic 'Gids naar den Gelderschen Achterhoek', which was published in 1937. Le Roy also made lithographs with stylized plant and flower motifs that were used for organic calendars and posters.
