The work of Deryck Foster has become very well known in sailing circles. Born and raised near the sea in the English coastal town of Bournemouth, Foster developed a great love for the water at an early age. After his painting training he specialized in navies. He settled in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, where he painted the sailing competitions on The Solent, then the cream of the crop for sailors. In later life he moved to Bailey's Bay in Bermuda.
