The Belgian artist Fernand Cornet was self-taught. From the 1960s, when he lives in Antwerp, he paints cityscapes with figures, landscapes (especially in the Kempen), Scheldt and harbor views, seascapes and still lifes. Light, bright colors and the occasional use of the palette knife characterize his work.
