Frans Everbag, born in Amsterdam in 1877, lived and worked in the capital all his life with a few interruptions. His oeuvre therefore largely consists of Amsterdam cityscapes. He also painted (flower) still lifes and animals in a sensitive-realistic style. Everbag also experimented with all kinds of printing techniques; he is considered to be one of the most important etchers and lithographers of the first half of the 20th century. He regularly participated in the Arti et Amicitiae exhibitions in Amsterdam. In 1939 his work was part of the exhibition 'Onze kunst van Heden” at the Rijksmuseum.
