F.D. Oerder lived and worked in Rotterdam, Brussels, Pretoria, Cape Town and Italy. Having trained at the Rotterdam Academy of Art, he painted, drew or etched landscapes (many of his motifswere taken from South Africa), cityscapes, animals, children, portraits and still lifes with flowers. The artist is highly regarded in South Africa. His impressionist works are known for their vibrant colours.
