Sculptor Gerard Brouwer observed the world around him gently, yet with a keen eye for the things he found characteristic of everyday life. He studied with Jan van Luijn at the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht, among others, and with Theresia van der Pant at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. Brouwer worked in Katwijk, and besides that town, his work can be found in various public spaces throughout the Netherlands and is included in museum and corporate collections, including abroad. His bronze sculptures are, as he himself put it, 'recognizable and quite substantial' and 'down to earth.'
