The Groningen sculptor Gerrit Piek trained at Minerva Art Academy and exhibited his work in group exhibitions with other members of De Ploeg. Piek made figurative sculptures in various materials such as bronze, stone and wood. Sculptures can be found in public spaces in the Groningen area, from wall sculptures to funerary monuments. Piek died at the age of 70 in his hometown.
