Impressionist painter of vibrant cityscapes, Brabant landscapes and discreet nudes in a refined color scheme. Balenghien painted most of his cityscapes and bar and café performances in Brussels, where he was also a teacher at the Academy. Critics found his work cheerful. With his well-founded technique he brings lively scenes to the canvas in which he paints a Brussels brimming with a warm, happy life.
