Hal Wichers painted and drew portraits and landscapes in an impressionistic style and also made wall paintings and linoleum mosaics. He was born in the Dutch East Indies, where he found inspiration for his later Indian scenes and landscapes. In the Netherlands, Wichers studied at the Amsterdam Rijksakademie. He then lived and worked in The Hague and later in Nijmegen, where he was a member of the Gemeenschap Beeldende Kunstenaars.
