biography of Hans Rudolf Strupler

The paintings of Swiss artist Hans Rudolf Strupler evoke a dream world. With repetitive abstract and figurative symbols and signs, which he also calls dreamed forms' ​​he typically fills the entire picture plane. Architecture, African masks, early Christian and Byzantine elements, religious symbols, eyes, and the full moon are frequently recurring visual elements. Strupler was inspired by music, especially jazz, the work of Paul Klee, and Herman Hesse's novel Siddhartha. He traveled extensively, including to North Africa, India, and Nepal. The painter divided his time between his studio in Ticino, where his grandparents had lived, and Zurich.
