Painter of expressionist figures, landscapes and cityscapes. Van Hille was originally a lawyer until a meeting with H.P. Bremmer converted him to painting. He settled in Zutphen, where he became a member of De Nieuwe Groep. Van Hille's work is notable for its unusual compositions, the remarkable color scheme and an idiosyncratic, apparently naive idiom . Museums: Museum Kröller-Müller in Otterlo, Groninger Museum and Municipal Museum in Zutphen.
