biography of Johannes Hendricus 'Jan' Fekkes

Jan Fekkes, who died young, preferred to paint the Dutch landscape in the dune region or 't Gooi. Particularly in the period 1918-1922 his work in the simplification of nature into geometric forms showed influence of Cubism. After that, too, he preferred to represent reality in large batches, without going into too much detail. Fekkes also painted some portraits and still lifes.
