Joh. H. Kaemmerer is one of the Hague painters who, in the 20th century, built on the impressionism of the Hague school, even when new realism, cubism and expressionism made their appearance. In his landscapes and Hague cityscapes, the emphasis is on depicting mood and atmosphere, where the use of bright colours is not avoided. Kaemmerer was a pupil of the academy in The Hague and then of the landscape painter Ype Wenning.E
