The work of painter and draftsman Johan Vlaanderen occupies a very special position in 20th century painting. He painted almost exclusively flowers and spring or summer landscapes, which, due to the precise elaboration, acquire a distant, dreamy feel. He paid a lot of attention to depicting trees. He often placed them on the front plan and was a master at displaying their characteristic features.
