Little is known about the life of Johannes Cornelis de Bruyn. From his work we can see that he specialized in painting floral and fruit pieces, with which he was very successful. As from 1827 he won various prizes with his still lifes. He also painted landscapes with cattle. The painter lived and worked for most of his life in his native town Utrecht.
