biography of Joseph van Dieghem

Joseph van Dieghem was one of a number of Belgian artists inspired by Eugène Verboeckhoven (1798 – 1881) to specialise in painting animals. His romantic landscapes featuring livestock, especially sheep and small fowl, were in high demand. Van Dieghem studied at the art academy in Brussels. Because he died young, his oeuvre is small.
