The German sculptor Josef Pallenberg is known for his realistic animal sculptures. As a youth he was fascinated by animals and studied their anatomical details. Over the years he has amassed an impressive collection of skeletons, casts and sketches - he was also a very gifted animal draftsman - that served as a source of inspiration and aid in the production of his sculptures. Pallenberg was educated at the academy in Düsseldorf. After that he regularly exhibited his sculptures at national art exhibitions. Pallenberg not only made small sculptures, but also made statues and wall sculptures, including for zoos in Berlin, Hamburg and Düsseldorf.
