biography of Karel van Belle

The Belgian artist Karel van Belle was trained as a decorative painter and then received his artistic training at the academy in Ghent. He preferred to paint refined, stylized scenes with female figures, which often have the character of a wonderful dream image. Madonnas, young girls, dancers, Spanish beauties dressed in dresses with flared skirts are his subjects, but also genre scenes with several figures. Van Belle also found inspiration for his work in romantic and historical depictions.
