biography of 'Kurt' Leopold Löb

Kurt Löb was born in Berlin, fled with his family to Amsterdam in 1939 and obtained Dutch citizenship in 1952 after being stateless for a while. He is a versatile artist: graphic artist, illustrator, lithographer, draughtsman and painter. Löb studied at the academy in Amsterdam between 1942-1947 under Willem van den Berg and Gé Röling, after which he learned the trade of typographer and illustrator at Lettergieterij Amsterdam (also known as Tetterode) between 1948-1953. Later he taught at the Royal Academy of Art and Design in Den Bosch, the academy in Salzburg, the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Löb was a member of several associations, including Arti et Amicitiae. He mainly drew and painted figures, genre paintings and illustrated several books. In the last years of his life, he devoted himself mainly to writing.
