Marcel Seys left a small painted oeuvre of winter landscapes, cityscapes and children's portraits. It came about around 1930. After that he was hardly active as a painter. Trained as an architectural engineer at the academy in Bruges, he entered the service of the Ministry of Public Works, where he became responsible for the school buildings and rose to the position of chief architect. The artistic centipede Seys also made a name for himself as co-founder of Puppet Play Den Uyl in Bruges. For this he painted the sets, designed dolls and devised the – for that time – impressive light installation.
