Little is known about the life and work of the watercolourist Margaretha Mack. We do know that she was born in Amsterdam in 1879 and lived in Berlin for a long time. In 1938 she probably left for Hanover in Germany for good. She was taught by the animal and landscape painter Maurits van der Valk, who regularly worked in Artis in the 1990s.
