The German-born Maria van der Voort in the Betouw-Nourney lived and worked together with her painting husband H.J. van der Voort in the Betouw in the city of Arnhem. The cultural climate in the Gelderland capital stimulated her to take part in national exhibitions. The painter is mainly known for her rich floral still lifes. Through varying colour shades and arrangement of her bouquets she came to a large variety of compositions.
