Max Alexander Alandt almost exclusively painted landscapes and figures. His training was long and thorough. He started at the Quellinus School in Amsterdam, then attended the Rijksschool voor Kunstnijverheid and finally took three years of classes at the Rijksacademie (1896-1899). After completing his studies, he worked for some time at the workshop of the history and genre painter Joseph Stallaert in Brussels, where he became a skilled figure painter. Alandt was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam.
