Max Gaisser followed in the footsteps of his father, the genre painter Jakob Emmanuel Gaisser (1825-1899). He received his education at the academy in Munich. He exhibited here from 1883 in the Glaspalast; He also exhibited his work at the Große Berliner Kunstausstellung, and in other German cities, such as Dresden and Bremen. In Paris, he took part in the Salon des Artistes Français, where he was awarded a silver medal for his submission in 1910. Gaisser mainly painted interiors, cityscapes, streets and beach scenes, which are often situated in Holland and Belgium. It is known that in the period 1890-1910 the artist regularly stayed in Veere, where he must have painted a lot. Work by Max Gaisser can be found in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, and in museums in Chicago and Milwaukee, USA.
