The artist Rien Goené, born in 1929, makes small sculptures in bronze and iron and monumental sculptures as well as paintings. Initially the abstracted figure is the most important motif in his visual language, but a austerity gradually sets in. This leads to powerful, simple forms and occasionally to completely abstract compositions.
