Ruud Verkerk has painted finely detailed, realistic scenes since 1980. Initially his imagination had the upper hand, but after a short time he switched to flowers and still lifes in which a typically Dutch element almost always plays a major role. Sometimes this is even the main subject, as in this tranquil composition of a vase and bowl of Gouda pottery.
