'I'm a story sculptor. My world of shapes must have a relationship with a recognizable and above all felt reality. My images are actually self-portraits, reflections on what I have experienced or would like to experience. See my work as a reflection of all kinds of possibilities in a woman's life, which I try to transform into a universally recognizable symbol.' With these words the artist once characterized herself and her oeuvre. She studied at the academy in Tilburg and the Amsterdam Rijksakademie, with, among others, Pépé Gregoire and Théresia van der Pant. In the years 1985-'86 she taught Queen Beatrix. Tony van de Vorst is one of the important Dutch post-war sculptors.
