biography of Walter Elmer Schofield

After training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and then at the Académie Julian in Paris, Schofield specialized in painting landscapes. He painted these outside in summer and winter, directly from nature. Most of his landscapes were created in Cornwall, where he belonged to the first group of painters from the painters' colony in the fishing village of St Ives. He also worked in the Delaware River Valley and New Hope in Pennsylvania (U.S.A.).
