Huib Luns's oeuvre was as varied as his busy work as a teacher and administrator. His subjects included portraits of prominent Dutch figures, nudes, elegant women in sun-drenched landscapes, still lifes, and colourful landscapes he created during his travels to southern regions, including beach and cityscapes. His style ranged from realistic and symbolist to a loose, impressionistic palette. Besides painting and drawing, Luns was a sculptor, lithographer, book cover designer, author of books on Dutch painting, medal designer, and muralist. Of his art publications, the most important was the 1940 book 'Holland Schildert', an overview of the painting of his time.
