Marie Wuytiers learned watercolour painting in the studio of the famous Hague flower painter Margaretha Roosenboom. Under the influence of her teacher, she then chose to paint flower still lifes, a subject she would remain faithful to all her life. Her watercolours often consist of a single type of flower, depicted in a natural setting or hanging, laid out or seemingly casually arranged in a vase. The painter lived most of her life in The Hague.
