Aris Knikker got his education at the academy in The Hague where he virtually lived all his life. He first worked as a faience painter with Rozenburg before moving on to autonomous painting. He enjoyed painting landscapes, farmsteads and panoramic views. Aris Knikker received his education at the academy in The Hague and lived almost all his life in the royal city. Initially he was a pottery painter at Rozenburg, later he moved to free, unbound painting. He preferred to paint atmospheric water landscapes and farmyards.
