Adriaan Vermeulen liked to paint nature and landscapes with picturesque houses. The surroundings of The Hague, Delft, Kortenhoef and Giethoorn appealed to him very much. He immortalized the landscapes with the rivers on canvas with a bright colour palette. He was educated at the Royal Academy in The Hague.
