Alexandre Debrus came from a well-known family of artists from Spa in Belgium. His father, Jean Nicolas Debrus, was a well-known genre painter and his brothers, especially Alexis and Célestin, made a name for themselves as flower painters. This Alexandre also had a preference for painting flowers, especially roses. He also lived and worked in England for some time.
